An Audit of Management of Male Urethral Stricture and its Outcome: A Retrospective Review

Background: Urethral stricture leads to obstructive voiding dysfunction. We report an audit of surgical management urethral in adult males. Methods: The records all patients diagnosed with from December 2017 March 2019 at B. P. Koirala Institute Health Sciences, Nepal were retrieved. Preoperative, surgical, and postoperative follows-up data evaluated. American Urological Association International Prostatic Symptom Score (AUA-IPSS) Uroflowmetry (voided volume peak urinary flow rate (Qmax)) used assess the outcome surgery. Results: Among 50 patients, majority (46%) belonged 40 - 59 years. Twenty-five (78.1%) traumatic anterior underwent excision primary end anastomotic (EPA) urethroplasty; seven (21.9%) pelvic fracture injury (PFUI) progressive perineal urethroplasty (PPU) EPA; eight inflammatory Kulkarni four iatrogenic six idiopathic Barbagli dorsal onlay urethroplasty. All had preoperative voided < 150ml, Qmax 15ml/s.
